When the Western Plains High School Lady Bobcats last faced the Lady Roosters from Palco High School in the final round of the 2010 Cheyenne Conference Invitational Tournament, the Cats earned their first win.

So when Palco came to WPHS Friday night for the Bobcats’ homecoming games, the Lady Cats were hoping for the best. However, things simply didn’t work out.

Palco beat WPHS, 49-45.

During the second and third quarters, the Bobcats outscored the Roosters by a combined total of  26-17, and even though it went in favor of Palco, the first quarter was close at 12-10.

It was the fourth quarter that caused problems for WPHS. The Roosters outscored the Cats, 20-9.

Senior Trista Jenner led the Lady Bobcats in scoring, putting in 12. She was followed closely by juniors Dakota Foos and Britny Pfannenstiel, who each had 11.

Sophomore Kate Hagans and freshman Hope Klitzke each had four points, sophomore Ruth Mendez had two and junior Beth Lutters rounded out the scoring with one.

There was no junior varsity girls game on Friday.

The Lady Cats will next take the court Tuesday when they travel to Healy.
