Tuesday night the Western Plains High School Lady Bobcats traveled to Ness City High School in Ness City to take on the inner-county rival Eagles. It was the opening round of regional play for the Lady Cats. A win would have put them one step closer to a sub-state berth.
Ness City beat WPHS handily, 36-7.
“Our defense really stepped up,” Head Coach Travis Schafer said. “Our offense just couldn’t bring it all together.”
The Lady Cats only scored three points in the first half, all of which came during the first quarter.
Sophomore Ruth Mendez and junior Britny Pfannenstiel led the team in scoring, each putting up two points.
Juniors Dakota Foos and Beth Lutters, along with senior Trista Jenner, rounded out the scoring by each putting one point on the board from the charity stripe.
