For the 2010-11 football season, the Western Plains High School Bobcats had to apply to become a captain of the team.
Several of the 15 players currently out for the team applied, and after much deliberation by the coaching staff, four players were chosen to be captains.

Football practice schedule changes
Initially, the Western Plains High School Bobcat football team was schedule to practice Thursday and Friday mornings to finish the week of two-a-days.
This is changing.
There will no longer be morning practices Thursday and Friday. Today was the last day for two-a-days.

Football practice to begin
Starting Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, WPHS Bobcat Football will begin two-a-day practices at the high school in Ransom. All players are expected to attend these practices.
These will take place every day of the week, morning and night, including Aug. 19 and 20 when school has begun.

Volleyball practice to begin
Starting Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, the WPHS volleyball team will begin practicing with tw0-a-days on Aug. 16, 17 and 18.
The times for these practices will be at 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
A bus will leave Bazine at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. each of these three practice days.
